CREDIT AUDIT

The first step you take as a student at EML is to participate in a credit audit. Your counselor will look at the academic credits you have coming into our school and compare them to the requirements of your goal, no matter what path you decide. For example, if you choose to attend a four-year university, your counselor will compare your existing credits to the graduation requirements, as well as university entrance requirements. Your counselor and your teacher will partner with you to build a schedule for courses that will enable you to meet your goals for graduation and beyond.

NAVIANCE

Our Naviance Family Connection, web-based program uses a combination of interest and personality type surveys that identify your strengths. This self-exploration process helps you discover career options that may work best for you and to further develop your chosen path.

PERSONALIZED PATHWAY

Pathways puts meaning into your school work by providing you a clear, personalized vision for the future.  It incorporates high school graduation requirements, the student’s short-and long-term goals, learning styles, previous work, current interests, academic achievement, skills development, and standardized test scores. The PPEP is reviewed and updated by parents, student, and teacher on a regular basis throughout the student’s enrollment.

COURSE DESIGN

Students’ course of study is based on a Pathways Personalized Education Plan (PPEP). This plan is developed by the counselor along with the student, parents, and teacher. Your teacher will talk with you and your parents about your progress and development in your academic studies to make sure that your PPEP is updated and accurate to match any changing goals, career interests, or academic achievements.

About Our Courses

A teacher may offer any course to you at any time.  Our students study three courses at a time and each course takes 9 weeks to complete.  Students earn course credits by successfully participating in school activities and completing lessons that demonstrate mastery of the state standards. EML’s implementation includes a successful model of collaborative learning, teaching across the curriculum, and self-paced lessons.

EML tracks and maintains rigorous standards. To obtain credit, C or better work is required and must be submitted on time. To advance a grade level, all work must be at grade level C or better.
